The 3rd running of The O'Darby Stakes, seen as a forerunner to the Irish Derby, was held on Wednesday 9th June 1819 at The Curragh over 1 mile 3 furlongs and 58 yards. Twenty Subscribers paid 25 sovereigns each, with colts allocated 8st 7lbs and fillies allocated 8st 2lbs. The winner was owned by Mr Michael Prendergast.

On Saturday 17th April 1819 a Sweepstake of 300 Guineas was won by Dash, beating Bob Roy and Whalebone. On Tuesday 20th April 1819 the Madrid Stakes was won by Surry, beating Paul Jones 7st 7lbs, with Noble 8st 4lbs back in fourth, and Dash 8st 4lbs in fifth. On Wednesday 21st April 1819 Dash won a Sweepstake over 2 miles, beating a colt by Fitzemily. On Friday 23rd April 1819 the Madrid Stakes Challenge saw Dash 8st 4lbs beat Surry 8st 2lbs. On Monday 26th April 1819 Dash won the 100 Guineas Sweepstake, beating Paul Jones, while on the same day Dash came fourth in the Second Madrid Stakes when conceding 1st 5lbs to The Chiseller. After winning the O'Darby Stakes Dash came third in the 100 Guineas Challengeable Cup donated by Sir Robert Peel, carring only 6st 7lbs and beaten by The Dandy (4 years old) and Steel, the previous years O'Darby Stakes winner.
